5 Things To Do On Halloween

No kids? No problem! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I like to always do something to celebrate this day. As it is marketed towards children, I feel like sometimes adults grow out of it too quickly. But if you are in the spirit to spook, then these ideas are for you:

1. Binge watch any of these movies: It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, The Addams Family, Hocus Pocus, Edward Scissorhands, and The Craft.

2. Eat candy: Why not invest in your favorite treat this day? These are my favorite. Bonus points on the cute box it comes in for the season. Now these are for you so go all out! You can give out something else, which leads me to my next point...

3. Give out candy: I don't fear the 'trick' if I don't give out candy. But the thing I looked forward too the most when I bought my house was giving out candy on Halloween. I just love seeing all those kids dressed in adorable costumes high on candy and natural excitement. So pull out a chair, get a giant bowl of candy ready, and...

4. Dress up: No, you are not too old for this. You are never to old for this. It will add to the excitement of the day. Plus kids love seeing you all dressed up as you fill up their baggies.

5. Listen to an original broadcast of War of the Worlds: As your night winds down, curl up with your favorite blanket and listen to an original broadcast of Orson Welles War of the Worlds. I love that when it first broadcasted, many listeners believed this was actually happening. It wouldn't happen in today's society, but just put yourself in that frame of mind. Sip on some hot cocoa whilst listening and the mood is set!

Plan With Me In The Happy Planner

Using the last of this ephemera packet I decorated this week. Went a bit heavy again but don't have much plans. Halloween is my favorite holiday of ALL TIMES! This year it will just be husband and I and I have some things planned for us. More on that tomorrow so make sure to come back for that.

Been toying with the idea of transforming this planner into more of a memory planner. If you are using your MAMBI for that, please let me know. I would love to hear your ideas.

Plan With Me in The Happy Planner

In honor of this weeks bridal shower at Disneyland, and the fact that the park transforms with Halloween decor including a Haunted Mansion as The Nightmare Before Christmas, I went for a full on Jack Skellington spread. These stickers from Pretty Sheepy are perfect! They are a gloss finish but I did write on some of them and they did not smear. Plus look at that adorable Disney churro and Dole Whip! I can't wait to be eating some of those!

Disney Here I Come!

I was never that girl who dreamed of her wedding. I was the girl who dreamed of her bridal shower. Not in the 'what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas', but in the 'let's do a girls trip to Disneyland!' way.

Disneyland is a family tradition. We hailed to the resort every summer (we live 20 minutes away but the drive is an eternity as an excited person) and spent an amazing day on the rides and eating one too many churros. As adults, my siblings and I do the annual pilgrimage back home in the summer to see our parents. And then we go to Disneyland...like a lot...as in we have annual passes even though my sister and I live in Texas...don't judge us. This summers trip was extra special to me because it was the first time I took husband. He was a great sport wearing matching shirts (family tradition) and my brother in law finally had someone to ride all the intense rides with.

Now I am returning with my #plannercomadre and my sister to meet the rest of the family at Disneyland for my bridal shower. It is a dream come true at the most magical place on earth. Cue all the Disney songs and stare longingly into the distance. In honor of this trip I had to get a classic Disney manicure and we also ordered these awesome sweatshirts from Him & Gem. Guys, these people are AMAZING to work with. They customized my order and shipped it in a timely manner. Then the postal service lost it and claimed to have delivered it. I emailed them in a panic because our trip was around the corner and they reprinted and shipped them off the next day! Customer service at its finest. Take a look at their amazing selection. You are sure to find something you love.

It's The Little Things

Oh the little things that make me smile! I keep them close. I look around me and look for them when I am feeling particularly bleh. I remind myself that I am blessed. I tell myself to be here and now. This picture includes some very special pieces. My new Kate Spade planner which had been my unicorn (unboxing video coming this Sunday!), these AMAZING paper doll books featuring my style icon Jackie Kennedy made by the equally AMAZING and talented David Wolfe (or as I like to refer to him, MY David), and these wild studs earings from Stella & Dot that husband bought me. Blessed and loved I tell you!

Wipe It Off

I don't normally use wipes on an everyday basis. Mostly I use them when I am traveling but still keep a pack at home for those lazy days when I just can't be bothered to wash my face. Normally, my pack gets old and dries out because I don't reach for them often. I normally just grab a tried and true brand at the store and replace as needed. But lately I have been using and loving a lot of skincare items from Boots from both their organic and sensitive skin line that when I saw their cleansing wipes I decided to give them a go.

I opened this pack going on at least 2 months. I only have a few left and I can tell you that while they have lost a bit of their moisture, they are not dried out at all and still remove my makeup. These wipes have no scent and are medium saturated. The wipe itself is very soft, cloth-like almost. It's pretty thick actually which I like since the makeup and solution doesn't transfer to my hands. It removes all my face makeup with one wipe. It even does a good job at removing my mascara but since I do wear a lot of it, I might have to go in with a second wipe to get that all off.

I have not noticed any breakouts or skin irritation from these wipes and I feel like anyone, especially us gals with super sensitive skin, can get on with these wipes. They are truly so mild and still get the job done. Get to wiping!

Plan With Me in The Happy Planner

A very laid back week for me here. No laundry thanks to husband and I blowing through it this weekend. No crazy to do lists, just a weekly one. No intense stickering either. Decided to stay in love with my ephemera packet and just highlight a few things. These giant 'BOO' letters are the best! Not only do I love the subtle white lines crossing through the letters, but they also helped to cover the vast white spaces of my week.

I placed a massive order at Scrapbook.com for more ephemera packets. New to this media, I am clueless where I can get more. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Empties #6

Here is another look at my empties. These are some of my favorite videos to watch. Not because of the creeper satisfaction factor of looking through someones medicine cabinet, but really because I get to hear of products I may not have heard of before. Let me know if you have tried any of these and what you think of them. Please subscribe to my channel as well. It is small but I promise I try very hard at it.

My Latest Obsession

My normal commute to work is generally between 20-30 minutes one way. I normally listened to my Latin Hits Radio station or to one of the podcasts husband would download for me on my ipod (The Lively Show is still my favorite). I often wished I could listen to an audio book but just couldn't get over the price. I know that you can check them out on Overdrive but I would get frustrated waiting for the latest 'it' book to become available for me to check out. Patience is a virtue that I do not completely hold, so when I came about an ad on Amazon for an Audible membership, I knew it was speaking directly to me.

By becoming a member of Audible, you get a 30 day free trial with two free audiobooks. After that, you get 1 book each month for $14.95/month. I could totally get behind this since the monthly fee is pretty much the equivalent of purchasing a new book. Plus once you download them to your device, they are yours to keep forever. For. Ev. Er. (Sandlot anyone?)

Now I may be late to the game on this one, but I am part of it now. Plus I feel like my commute time is no longer wasted brain space. I get out of my car feeling smarter, and honestly, my mood is so much better as well.

*This is not a paid advertisement. I pay for my monthly membership and wanted to pass on the information to all the book lovers out there.

Etsy Sticker Haul Video

I bought some fun stickers for my planner on Etsy and they all finally came in. I thought it would be easier to show them all to you by doing a little video. Give this video a thumbs up if you are a planner and sticker addict!

*Shops are tagged in the description box in the video. So launch the video, click on the YouTube icon on the bottom right of the video and then click on the little carrot underneath it to see all of the info.

Plan With Me in The Happy Planner

I think this is the most I have decorated a monthly spread. No white boxes in this one. I blame it on this adorable ephemera pack I found at Marshalls. The rest of the stickers are from the dollar books at Michael's. Even went ahead and drew in some. Look at me! Coming out of my comfort zone and all that! I also wanted to show you how I decorate my 'This Month' page. I love how my October Life List sits snugly next to it so I can check off as I go. I'm pretty sure the entire month of October will be decorated in a Halloween theme. Totally o.k. with that!

Reading Challenge Update #7

This month saw me picking up my reading game a bit more (more on that later). I really enjoyed all three books. They were all a bit suspenseful and just kept me really engaged. Two of these are actually in production for a movie with The Martian releasing last night. Now if someone can answer my prayers and make the entire Dorothy Must Die series into a movie as well I'd be set.

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins covers "A book set in a different country" for the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge. This book was just wow! Think along the lines of Gone Girl. It has it all. Love, love triangles (yes more than one), murder, and mystery. Just so much emotion. I was hooked within minutes of starting it. I am eager for the movie to come out but I am glad I read it first. I do hope they stick to the story line because I can't image them changing anything. It would alter the course of the book entirely and this is one of those books where all the characters are intertwined.

The Wizard Returns by Danielle Paige covers "A book published this year". It's not so much a book as it is a novella but let's all just pretend and go with it. Sshhh! A secret among reading buddies. I have raved about this series and each book just gets me deeper and deeper into the saga. Someone please make this into a movie! I love how Paige is making these novellas in between her main series books to continue the story from a different perspective. It often explains things a bit further and you get the whole "oh I get it now!" moment.

The Martian by Andy Weir is "A book that became a movie". Guys...this book! By now most of you have the idea of the story line since this movie premiered last night and trust me husband and I were there, but it is so much more! The sheer brilliance of Weir on how he came up with astronomical (pun intended) solutions to these NASA sized problems was beyond me. I wanted to know if Weir was in fact a scientist or an astronaut or was his best friend one. His profile states he is "a lifelong space nerd" and "a devoted hobbyist of subjects like relative physics, orbital mechanics, and the history of manned space flight". Then I went 'oh ok that explains it'. Which then led to 'man how can so much brains fit into one man'. Which in turn led to hurt feelings because I wasn't that nerdy. However I felt redeemed when the Council of Elrond was mentioned and I knew exactly what they meant by it. I have decided that Weir is my new best friend in a non creepy/stalker way. Since the entire main story line has the main character alone on Mars I wondered how they were going to make the monologue not bore the masses in the movie with all the big scary technical jargon and mathematical equations. But they did a great job adapting it and they only changed a thing or two towards the end and I could justify it or else we would have needed an additional hour. It did not alter the main story line at all. What I was not expecting from this book was the humor. It was hilarious! Dry, sarcastic humor which husband and I are all about. During the movie we were busting out laughing and at one point I leaned over and told husband that we were the only ones laughing. I hope the humor wasn't lost on everybody. Honestly, I can't wait to watch this movie again.

October Life List

Since many of us live seasonally or set monthly life goals, I thought I would share what my intentions are for this month. I will be sharing on instagram as these happen so make sure you follow me. What are your monthly must do's?
