Reading Challenge Update #8

Oh how much I have enjoyed reading this month. Here is where I am currently at on the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge:

1. Eat. Pray. Love. by Elizabeth Gilbert. This book fulfills 'A Memoir' for me. I will say I was not in the least interested in reading the book or watching the movie years ago when it came out. Now after doing both, I can say that I really needed to be in the mindset that I am in now to actually appreciate the message. I can identify with the characters loss of self and her journey towards finding oneself. I can't say I know exactly who I am, but I do have a clearer vision of who I want to be. I would say this is a good book for someone to read late 20s and so on.

2. Orange Is The New Black by Piper Kerman. This book fulfills 'A Book With A Color In The Title'. This was a fun read. And much, much tamer than the show. I can say that I expected that but no really, the book is rated G compared to the show. Pick this up for some casual reading. It really puts a perspective on how convoluted the penal system can be.

3. Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham. This fulfills 'A book based on or turned into a T.V. show' simply because the show Girls is based on Dunham's real life experiences. Not all of it, of course, but some. This book had a lot of hype around it and although I enjoyed it, I wasn't blown away. Dunham talks about her childhood phobias and takes us all the way through present day. We see all her painful love experiences, her ailments, her personal views. Again, pick this up as a fun read.

4. Yes, Please by Amy Poehler. This fulfills 'A Popular Author's First Book'. Hilarious. Downright hilarious. Just read it.
