NEW IN SKINCARE FOR HUSBAND

In my continuous attempt to get husband to love and care for his skin I like to buy him (read practically shove in his face) little bits of skincare here and there for him to try. I took full advantage of that last month during his birthday week celebration. I give husband a gift every day for a week leading up to his birthday where I give him his main present. It just so happens that two of his gifts this year revolved around skincare featured in books. Let me explain.

Years ago I read the entire Gossip Girl series in a month. I wasn't working. I was actually recuperating from surgery and just devoured them. I'm a funny reader. If a phrase is repeated time and time again in a book it will be all that I remember from them. And from here all I remember is how Blair kept saying that Nate smelled like Kiehl's Cucumber Herbal Toner. Mind you this was around 7 years ago and that has still stayed in my mind. Recently husband has been working a lot on our house and most of it is outside in the sun or in the shop. So of course aside from me wanting to baste him like a turkey in SPF 2000 I want to make sure his pores don't get clogged (he has a beard and ingrown hairs are painful) and that his skin is squeaky clean. It smells so crisp and refreshing. I can see why Blair was obsessed with smelling it on his skin. Yes I know I am talking about her like she isn't a fictional character because she isn't. Book lovers know what I mean...

A couple of days later I gave husband Bvlgari Green shower gel. Technically it is called Bvalgari The Vert but when it is referenced in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, she calls it Bvlgari Green. Ranger, who is the epitome of male testosterone and sexiness, uses this in the shower and she often says it lingers when he leaves a room. Obviously husband, who wears Bvlgari cologne, needed to have this. When I searched high and low for it I kept finding The Vert. So I did what any book crazed fan who has a question on one of her favorite characters/books does, I tweeted Evanovich. And she answered me within a few minutes. I threw my arms up and claimed that clearly I was famous if this renowned author answered little old me and was apt to start filling out my TRS retirement forms until I was brought back to reality by my bank account. Regardless, she made my day. She also verified that they were the same think. Click! Purchased! It smells like a dream. It made me deeply in-hail as I stuck the bottle practically up my nose and roll my eyes back. Husband stared.

Both times I had to explain to him why I chose those products further revealing to him just how book obsessed and nerdy I am. He thought it was adorable. He didn't say it outright but I just know (creeper!). He actually laughed. And I am sure you know as well as he did at that moment that I will be trying out both these products. What kind of beauty blogger would I be if I wasn't thorough on my research? I'll take one for the team!

  1. Oh my gosh, I love your connection to books in your skincare choice! hahah, it made me laugh. I also love this post because I'm using my husband right now for a men's skincare routine blog post. I've been wanting him to take care of his skin for so long, and now he's on board : )

    1. That's great! I can't say husband is so much on board as he is resigned to me getting him things to try. At least he uses face wash now. Win!

  2. I love that you purchased the skin care items because of some of your favorite books. I've done that with TV shows as well. I see someone using it and I go out and buy it and also refer the characters as people. It's funny what fiction can make us do.

    1. I mean if they were good enough to make it into a book, then they are probably good in general right?

    1. I found that if he uses a scrub every once in a while it really helps with that. Also, since he started using face wash in general there hasn't been many.

  6. Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been trying to get my hubby on a skincare regimen. I'm going to look this up because he gets the worst ingrown hairs.

    1. And they are so painful for them because it is on their face! I consider it a win if he uses something!
